Photos, a quote, and it’s gone

  1. Send pictures. Take a few photos and text them over to (919) 850-4377. Or add up to 5 of them on our online quote form.
  2. We send a quote and set a time. Estimates are free. Same-day openings come up often, and you’ll hear from us 15 to 20 minutes before the truck pulls up.
  3. Our crew loads it and hauls it away. Then we sort the load, so anything usable gets donated and anything recyclable gets recycled.

What we haul from Durham homes

Most calls start with one room that got away from somebody. A garage you can’t park in. An attic full of boxes from three moves ago. A shed out back you quit opening.

We remove junk from bedrooms, closets, basements, attics, garages and sheds. One couch or a whole houseful, we’re glad to help. Here’s some of what we pick up:

  • Old couches, mattresses, tables and dressers
  • Washers, dryers, fridges and other appliances
  • TVs, computers and other electronics
  • Tires, yard waste and bags of household trash
  • Leftover building materials from a home project

Our trucks hold 20 cubic yards each, so a big pile takes fewer trips.

Hoarder cleanouts, handled quietly

A hoarded home is hard to talk about. We get that, and we keep the whole job private and respectful. The first call can come from anyone. Maybe it’s a son or daughter who’s worried about a parent. Maybe it’s the person who lives there. Sometimes it’s a landlord or a social worker trying to help.

We can go room by room, sorting things into keep, donate and haul piles so the person who lives there gets a say. Or we can clear everything at once. When a home is unsanitary, our crew wears protective gear. Hazardous, chemical and biological waste can’t come with us, but we’ll tell you where it can go. Here’s more about our hoarder cleanout service.

Clearing out a loved one’s home

When a parent passes away or moves into care, the house still has to be emptied. Often the family lives out of town, and a sale is already on the calendar. Let us take the heavy part off your plate.

Before we come, pull aside the photos, papers and heirlooms you want to keep. You don’t need to sort the rest. We clear every room, then the attic, basement, garage and sheds. Executors, real estate agents and attorneys can book the job for a family, too.

We like having someone at the house that day. If nobody can make it, call us and we’ll sort out a plan. See how our estate cleanouts work.

Rentals, apartments and foreclosures

Beat the moving blues: call McJunk at 919-850-4377 or click to book nowJunk a tenant leaves behind can hold up a turnover for days. We clear apartments, condos and rental houses so your painters and cleaners can get in.

Foreclosures and inherited houses count, too. You might take one over and find broken TVs, old couches and a garage stuffed with who knows what. We’ll haul all of it. Property managers can read about our rental property cleanouts.

Office and commercial junk removal

Make your office space yours again: call McJunk at 919-850-4377 or click to book nowOffices in Durham pile up junk just like houses do. When a business moves, shrinks or remodels, the old desks, chairs, cubicle parts, file boxes and dead printers all need somewhere to go. Nobody on your staff wants to spend a Saturday hauling them. We’ll clear a whole floor or grab a few pieces, and we can come after hours so we stay out of your way.

Old metal and electronics get recycled, not tossed. Our junk hauling covers construction debris from remodels, too, and that load goes to a landfill built for it. Regular business customers can be invoiced once credit is set up. More on our commercial junk removal page.

Where your junk ends up

We try to keep 80% or more of every load out of the landfill. After a pickup, we sort it. Things people can still use go to local charities. Things that can be recycled go where they belong.

  • Durham Rescue Mission and Raleigh Rescue Mission: household goods with life left in them.
  • Habitat for Humanity ReStore: furniture and building supplies.
  • Cause for Paws: clothes and furniture.
  • Recycling centers: metal, cardboard, paper, glass, plastic and old TVs.
  • County landfill: only what’s left over, like broken furniture and worn-out mattresses.

You can see every stop on our where the junk goes page.

Questions folks ask us

Can you come today?

Often, yes. We do same-day junk pickup in Durham, and same-day estimates, when the schedule allows. Call or text early in the day and we’ll see what’s open. We’re out Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm.

How do you price a job?

By volume, so it comes down to how big the pile is on our truck. The estimate is free. If the pile turns out smaller than we thought, you pay less, and you’ll never pay more than we quoted. Our pricing page has the details.

Is there anything you can’t take?

Hazardous, chemical and biological waste. Paint is fine once it’s dried out in the can, and we can tell you how to dry it.

Do I have to be home?

It helps if someone’s there. If you can’t be, just let us know and we’ll figure out another way.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. McJunk is licensed for this work and fully insured.

How can I pay?

Cash, a personal or company check, or any major credit card.

Want your space back in Durham? Text over a few pictures and we’ll answer quickly. One call, text or form gets you on the schedule.
